    The Scenic Route

     They say that the quickest route
    Is a line that is straight
    But when walking towards my goal
    I tend to deviate

    Sometimes I will get sidetracked
    Distracted on the way
    I'll stop and smell the roses
    Or walk along the bay

    I want to explore my world
    From the mountains to shore
    That's because the straightest path
    Can really be a bore

    That's why I will take my time
    To learn what life's about
    I won't hurry or worry
    I'll take the scenic route

    It's a route that is longer
    But there's so much to see
    So much to experience
    Enjoy the scenery

    Things I never noticed now
    Are in plain sight to view
    When I chose the scenic route
    It led me straight to you

    Now we both walk the same path
    Together side by side
    Our goal doesn't matter when
    The joy is in the ride

    We will get there in due time
    In this, there is no doubt
    I'm so glad I made the choice
    To take the scenic route
