Competition
Life can seem monotonous
And quite repetitive
Life can be a long struggle
To stay competitive
Competition can be good
I never would have known
That I had to take a path
That I could call my own
There's a race to be on top
Is there room for defeat?
Am I up to the challenge?
Am I fit to compete?
Do I have the right mindset?
I know I have ambition
Is that enough to succeed
Am I in good condition?
Sometimes there's anxiety
Pressure can take its toll
And the stress, I must confess
Can get out of control
Yet I'm confident and strong
Enough to persevere
I'll attempt to stay exempt
From any doubt or fear
I won't regret the mistakes
I've made that caused my fall
I'll apply all that I've learned
Through trials great or small
Is there peace in the journey?
I have nothing to dread
Whether I take baby steps
Or longer strides instead
I'll take pleasure in the race
Before the thrill is gone
It's a treat just to compete
In this great marathon
There are opportunities
In every single test
Competition inspires
Us all to do our best
