Pumpkin
I like pumpkins for good reasonThey're symbolic of a season
From October through November
Is a great time to remember
I bought a big one last fall
From a farmers market stall
Took it home, gave it a wash
What a lovely type of squash!
Now my pumpkin's nice and clean
Won't be used for Halloween
Won't carve a face in its skin
That would seem like a huge sin
Let me cut into this fruit
Pumpkins are so round and cute
And their rinds are like a shell
I just love raw pumpkin smell
Now I'm glad, happy indeed
As I count up every seed
Roasted pumpkin seeds are neat
As a tasty snack or treat
Pumpkins are healthy, no lie
Don't hesitate to have pie
Pumpkin cookies, pumpkin cake
Tell me, what else should I bake?
Pumpkin cheesecake? That's so cool!
Pumpkin muffins make me drool
As you see when you pass by
Pumpkins are for more than pie
Pumpkin empanadas too
Pumpkin candy, am I through?
Be creative if you please
With all of my recipes
Pumpkins have been found that they
Are rich in vitamin A
High in fiber, near the top
Pumpkins are my favorite crop
