Flashbacks
Is my life a great big lie? Some things aren't what they seem
Show me what is truly real
Are we inside a dream?
Memories of moments past
Are bound to fade away
A forgotten world awaits
That tells of yesterday
Hidden memories exist
In my sub-concious mind
I've been searching in vain for
What's been so hard to find
The far past seems like a dream
That wanes into an ember
Memories of childhood
That I long to remember
Information's at my grasp
But I'm prone to forget
As the days quickly go by
They add to more regret
I have relied on flashbacks
Of repressed memories
Sometimes they will come and go
Memories I must seize
Our brain's a complex machine
We face a daily grind
What secrets can we unlock
In a fast aging mind?
I've had flashbacks of some things
That shook me to the ground
Mystery of history?
I know it can be found
Please do not follow flashbacks
For they will come to you
Maybe you'll experience
A kind of deja vu
I believe my flashbacks have
Proven this world to be
Purposeful and meaningful
Thank God for memory
