    Speed Limit

     Please allow me much more time
    For me to get this right
    I don't want to cause trouble
    And don't want us to fight

    Let me do things at my pace
    In which I can succeed
    Please be patient, understand
    I'll go at my own speed

    Ever since I was a child
    I was expected to
    Take first place in any race
    In all I did pursue

    Encouraged to be the best
    I longed to please my peers
    I remember my failures
    So I was left in tears

    In my haste to have a taste
    Of any victory
    I pushed myself way too hard
    And fell in agony

    I am older, wiser now
    I have learned from the past
    If you want something done right
    You can't always go fast

    My life has a speed limit
    That I don't dare to break
    Overexerting myself
    Would be a big mistake

    I really liked this piece You offer the reader a chance to stop and contemplate the rush hour our lives are sometime in. hmmm rushhour? (possibly a good poem title.) I may have to think on that one. well done. -Tonya
