Empathy
I won't tell you sob storiesI'll put them to a halt
I don't need your sympathy
Or care who is at fault
You can blame me if you want
I've been a lousy friend
I just hope things don't get worse
And we come to an end
The end of what's considered
A friendship that would last
But I've noticed that you tend
To dwell on things gone past
A past I'd like to forget
But one you can't let go
I've apologized enough
Why kick me when I'm low?
What happened to empathy?
Compassion on your part?
How much lower can I feel
Before you break my heart?
I need some understanding
Do I ask for too much?
I don't want to argue if
It means that we lose touch
I don't need your sympathy
Empathy would be best
See things from my point of view
Put your anger to rest
