Tears For My Father
Sixty years old, it's your dayThat's quite a milestone
As I stand next to your grave
Life takes a somber tone
Happy birthday to you dad
I think of you and cry
Because nine long years ago
You did not have to die
Lung cancer took you away
From us, your family
You were only fifty-one
This wasn't meant to be
Mixed emotions, anger, grief
Still plague my fragile mind
Tears of sorrow, memories
A father who was kind
You raised me as your own son
Gave me your last name too
On this day, I want to say
How deeply I miss you
