    Oil

     I appreciate the way
    You've given me your best
    And endowed me with a gift
    That helped me pass each test

    You have opened up my eyes
    And brought peace to my mind
    Now I see, you've been with me
    How long have I been blind?

    Now I've come to realize
    That you don't disappoint
    What you do is guide me through
    And comfort and anoint

    You are like the oil that
    Has anointed my head
    I'll attest that now I'm blessed
    Because my heart's been fed

    Overflowing with a love
    That won't decay or spoil
    You will always be the one
    To bless me with your oil

    I really liked this poem, it always a good feeling to know you are loved, whether it be God or someone else important to you. This brings back memories of getting anointed and how much it really means.

    Thank you for your honest review. This poem was inspired by the bible. Psalm 23 to be exact. The " oil " represents the Holy Spirit in this Christian-themed poem.
