Stressful Times
An old man cannot find workHe has been unemployed
The riches that he built up
Have almost been destroyed
A young woman is single
Five kids and is divorced
Her ex-husband had a job
That soon became outsourced
He can't pay child support
His money is all spent
She can't afford to buy food
Barely can pay the rent
Pay the bills, utilities
In winter, there's no heat
With five hungry mouths to feed
There isn't much to eat
She could end up on the street
In a bad neighborhood
Where crime and poverty lives
Gangs are up to no good
Yes, we live in stressful times
There is a sense of horror
Anxiety's running high
The poor are getting poorer
Some people have good reason
To fear just what could be
Economic turmoil
Worldwide catastrophe
It's not the end of the world
Although it could be near
I confess, all of this stress
Manifests into fear
There has got to be a way
To end violent crimes
And that war that some abhor
We live in stressful times
