Patience
Before you decide to beAn enemy to me
You cannot intimidate
Or cause anxiety
Before you decide to do
Something to anger me
I need to let you know that
I do things patiently
Slow to anger, slow to sin
I will not fall apart
If you want to upset me
Then don't start with my heart
My heart feels unbreakable
Like my metallic chest
The armor that I've put on
Aids in my noble quest
In my quest for perfection
I have my second wind
But is it impossible
Because I too have sinned?
If you wish to battle me
You know, I too am flawed
Yet I will not shrink in fear
I'll put my trust in God
I've been given the patience
To continue to wait
Before I am tempted to
Go and retaliate
I've been given the patience
To resist weapons used
Against me repeatedly
Until you get confused
Until you do not know how
To penetrate my chest
Patience is a virtue that
Proves my heart passed the test
Courage is important, but
Patience in us is rare
Every time I venture forth
I'm glad patience is there
