Pride
The foundation I once builtCould not withstand the tide
The waves came to my dismay
I fell due to my pride
There's no shame in falling down
As long as you have tried
Do your best in every test
And put aside your pride
Some will not admit defeat
They'll lie at any cost
To protect their dignity
Even when all is lost
Big egos can run amok
Many are in denial
Pride can be the fall of those
Who fail every trial
Obstacles are everywhere
Listen to what I say
Please take heed and you'll succeed
Never learn the hard way
Foolish pride comes from inside
A mind that's in the wrong
You're mistaken to believe
That you'll always be strong
From a pedestal I stood
I was far from humble
And had to be brought back down
Before I could crumble
I once had a huge ego
It was quite magnified
Arrogant and self-centered
My head swelled up with pride
Lord I pray, forget the way
That I've let sin abide
In my heart, which wasn't smart
Forgive my foolish pride
