Cake
We don't live by bread aloneThere is much more to eat
Like a slave to what we crave
Our tongues want something sweet
Our eyes long to see something
That appears appealing
To the appetites we have
Quite a hungry feeling
Life can only be as sweet
To what we can handle
As we age, we reach a stage
To light one more candle
Bakers and undertakers
Rarely make a mistake
I sing of the icing of
My latest birthday cake
Bread can only taste as good
As to your recipe
For their sake, feed them my cake
Don't tell them it's from me
Bakers, teach the world to make
Everything that you can bake
Give them more than they should take
Bread is fine, but give them cake
Give them more than they expect
Show them what's truly sweet
Any kind of cake will do
There's plenty more to eat
But life's more than the frosting
That tops a baker's pride
The best part will warm your heart
It's the moist cake inside
My life should be more like cake
No matter what it's costing
Take the lead to feed each need
Do not just give them frosting
