    Nothing In Return

     I've been selfish and unkind
    It's time that I confess
    That I have felt guilty for
    Creating such a mess

    I've been irresponsible
    And kicked you to the dirt
    Lately I just haven't cared
    About your pain and hurt

    You have given me so much
    What have I given you?
    Nothing but the worst from me
    You now know this is true

    All I've done is take take take
    I know this isn't right
    Lately I have played the role
    Of harmful parasite

    You are better off alone
    I think you need to learn
    All you have received from me
    Is nothing in return

    It is toxic, unhealthy
    For you to stay with me
    Because I love you so much
    I need to set you free

    Please believe me, I love you
    Don't cling to me, okay?
    You deserve a better man
    You're better off this way

    Lots of damage has been done
    Our bridge was meant to burn
    I'm so sorry that I gave
    You nothing in return

    I think I love this poem in a way I cant express. I have a person in my life that told me this almost to the T. This has been a interesting look into a pain that I thought might have been never explained
