    Contributions

     We can build a better world
    One person at a time
    Am I willing to partake
    In such an uphill climb?

    I can't do this by myself
    And could use a good friend
    Maybe this dependence needs
    To have an abrupt end

    There's no children of my own
    And no wife by my side
    Will I leave a legacy
    Long after I have died?

    My talents won't go to waste
    I'll write more poetry
    Do I really think it will
    Give immortality?

    After my life is over
    A question will persist
    Will my poetry live on
    Once I cease to exist?

    Wishing for contributions
    To be given by me
    I guess the ego I have
    Makes me act selfishly

    Maybe I should contribute
    Without seeking applause
    I should dedicate my life
    To a known worthy cause

    Lately I've been self-centered
    And apt to live by greed
    Contributions for the poor
    Would be a noble deed

    Contributions of our time
    We all can volunteer
    To help somebody in need
    And let them know you're here

    We are here to make it clear
    Problems have their solutions
    Now this is what I mean when
    I hope for contributions

    i truly enjoy your writing, the style the form the rhyme scheme. I have one slightly along these same lines. It's called; words left behind. well done my friend. -Tonya
