    Copycat

     Can I remain genuine
    Before my act gets old?
    Do I need to please my peers
    By trying something bold?

    I've bent over backwards just
    To try to earn some praise
    I have been my worst critic
    And long to change my ways

    I must break free from the mold
    And seek emancipation
    I refuse to end up as
    A lousy imitation

    Copy him or copy her?
    Who do I want to be?
    Maybe I should focus on
    Improving what's in me

    I don't have to be like this
    Or even be like that
    I am an original
    And not a copycat
