Labels
I am an originalYou must know my story
People should not put me in
Any category
Don't confuse me with someone
Who's similar, you see
I'm glad I don't have a twin
Identical to me
I'm an individual
As unique as can be
Somewhat of a hybrid I
Am not a pedigree
Please don't give me a label
That's what some like to do
Life is more than black or white
I wouldn't label you
I don't like stereotypes
They all could fill a book
I am more than statistics
About the way I look
In the end, it matters not
What is your age or race
Or your gender, height, or weight
I only see the face
When I look into your eyes
I see one human being
It's not your ethnicity
That I will be seeing
Labels have been put on me
Some do wear them with pride
Yet they can discriminate
And create a divide
I'm not like anyone else
I don't follow the herd
Labels are a part of life
That I think are absurd
