Stamina
In this marathon called lifeIs the race for the swift?
I've relied on my talents
And utilized each gift
Waiting, hoping for my time
The opportunity
To show this world what I have
Bottled inside of me
Yet I know this journey's long
The dangers I could face
If I fail far too soon
I'll need a change of pace
Will I have the stamina?
I really am not sure
All I know is where to go
And that I must endure
I do hope that I'm prepared
For what's around each curve
But will that result in me
Learning how to conserve?
I won't waste my stamina
The energy I need
It is not imperative
To quickly take the lead
Yes, the competition's tough
I have learned from my past
Before some could reach their goal
They would burn out too fast
I won't repeat their mistakes
At least that's my desire
Through the sweat and tears I'll shed
I will not faint or tire
Even if I'm exhausted
I will not fear or cower
Only God gives me the strength
I need this very hour
Through His power and His grace
It's His will and not mine
To give me the stamina
To reach the finish line
