White Noise
Ungrateful bastard
set thinking
blinking only one way,
like some television set
in between channels
all white noise
insistent poise
that quite frankly annoys
Looks that challenge
except I'm not competing
barking up the wrong tree
no, that was never me
He abuses you
so you return the flavor
and direct it at me
except I'm steadfast
and won't turn away
Don't tell me that's the Catholic way
since I wasn't brought up
swallowing that act of contrition
all this paranoia
feeding into supposition
More walls in place
trying to save face
telling each other lies
to plainly justify
But I'm the one
being singled out
living in the fall out
of their make believe
Telling a story
one too many times,
it somehow takes on a life
all of its own
