Stripping Atoms
Surrounded
by the closeness of friends
one by one,
charades come to an end
One joins the service
to find himself,
another packs his belongings
and thumbs it south
Follow nothing
no one is there to guide
alone in this sea of humanity
haunted by the hours
and frail memories,
drowning...
Singing solo
with the company of dust mites
another empty evening
up all night
going on and off
like some neon light
and the City and the Pillar
is a pathetic plight
Sorry
can not mince these words
when worlds collide
stripping atoms
with reckless abandon
his story is unfortunately mine
and the familiar
is riddled with land mines
No talk of tall tales
or golden bands
there is a line
fortune drawn in the sand
no deviations
or frustrating undertones
passing strangers
joining finite moments
always to awaken alone...
