Life as Usual
He called
Caught at a bad time
Still he welcomed conversation
instead of staring down these walls
Life as usual
Working oneself into the ground
Never to make ends meet
Never to get enough
He stepped away from all of this
Walked into the grip of depression
Passing through each progression
Yet another life lesson
Now he finds himself
at the tail end
Wondering to himself
Has he truly gone round the bend?
Lost in such heavy thoughts
Situated between his headphones
Cut off completely from the world
So deeply and utterly alone
He called
but it never seems to be the right moment
A break in the monotony
Disregarding a failed biology
Working double shifts
There is no Life
when one can't experience it
If too tired to even sleep
Slip into a half life
Just going through the motions
Watching streams of light
inciting riots with vagrant dust mites
As the traffic rumbles beneath his finger tips
Yet another wayward semi passes by
Heading off to destinations unknown
He’s engrossed in self portraits on his cell phone
Now he's never alone...
