Shoes
Don't expect you to get me
to ever fathom any of this
it's so easy to pass judgement on someone
unless you've worn those particular shoes
Your shoes will never fit
everything has fallen off of me
you pass judgement and condemn
as an afterthought, using cash to mend
Size me up and second guess
maybe I should just come out and confess
I don't want to see you in the grave
with any regrets left on this breath
Is it time to embrace
or a time to walk away in disgrace?
just for once I'd like to experience
a family where everything falls into place
Life tears me apart again
thown back together haphazardly
a closet bursting with forgotten rues,
an endless array of discarded shoes
