Goodbye, Walkman
Opening up
sharing with you
against my better judgment
but it is something to do
there is nothing to challenge
nothing to prove
not crossing any finish line
nor experiencing a racing heart beat
or erratic speech
diverted, introverted
pretentiously
out of reach
nothing is left
There is a silent death
just look all around
men hooked up to machines
even wired for sound
tuned in, blocked out
all that could possibly matter,
this silent torture
just plainly shatters
Doing without
all of this catty candor
no life hanging in the balance
How does society
honestly ever seem to manage?
