On Solid Ground
He looks at her,and wonders where she went
since lately,
all she does is vent
making up the silliest reasons,
he is causing all her perceived ills
while nightly ranting and raving
worshipping her savior,
multiple bottles of cheap wine
in various shades of burgundy and rose
okay,
the walls are moving so fine
what he has wrought this time?
twisting his words,
his very actions
until nothing makes sense anymore
locked behind his bedroom door
while in all her wisdom and glory,
bookish views and witless quips,
she has declared how she has, "had it"
he views her ravings with clinical detachment
wondering where her personality went
trying to stir up past resentments
from alienated siblings
hateful comments just to spite him,
yet he's not falling for any of this drama
condemnation or humiliation
since both of his feet are firmly planted
on solid ground...
