Can Only See Blue
Don't scar with compliments
never knowing when to dodge,
or to willingly take the bullet
These fretful reactions
and forgettable actions,
leading the way on the wrong foot
Walking these same streets
always talking to myself
deflecting looks too hard
Hey I walked from the yard
made it up the hill again
racing into the sun
Past the headstones
of forgotten military heroes,
decorated with discarded beer bottles
Skin turning golden brown
clothes becoming thread bare
yet it doesn't really seem to matter
Shedding this suffocating skin
one clinging layer at a time,
goodbye eyes that can only see blue
