Synergy
Ex-girl friend
she went off her meds
now the images
collide and damage,
like smashing atoms
thought processes become crossed
every brilliant idea
is hopelessly tossed
wandering lost
pulling the drapes shut again
mailman skipping down the sidewalk
ruining a child's masterpiece
drawn in vibrant chalk
down comes the sheeting rain
washing the running colors
right down the drain
running for cover
beneath a canopy of autumn leaves
waiting for frosted kisses
to change the scenery
this synergy, crackling energy
thunderheads overhead,
a symphony for the dead
limbs straddling branches
that strain to reach the atmosphere
cars race by
belching out blue smoke
getting into the clothes
hung out to dry
on florescent white lines
beneath an angry, seething sky
