Broken
He rejected her,
now she confides in me
all of his anger,
misdirected irrationality
But I can only comfort,
not emotionally get involved
soothe away the hurt,
like an adult to a child
Maybe a wallflower
just live and let live
alone in a darkest hour
with a soul that can only give
They stress the negative
time and time again
relying on him
whenever their world view dims
'There is a light
that never goes out'
an old Smiths song
when the world seems wrong
It still is a comfort
after all this time
in a world of hurt
stepping out of line
The right words never seem to be spoken
emotionality becomes some cheap token
lost in this head
in thoughts of dread,
broken...
