Dare To Live
He walked away from it all
somehow, the end didn't seem to matter
watching this movie alone
sharing a moment with ghosts
and flickering dust
trapped in a vacuum
drinking from a dirty coffee mug
switch on the power,
an old Hewlett Packard Pavilion
circa 1999, happy birthday
saved from a landfill
leaking mercury from a cracked shell
like some mechanical egg
fallen off a wall
citizen from a demented fairy land
reminiscent of this current administration
but he refuses to get involved
never dabbling in politics
with charlatans battling personal demons
far worse than his own
after all, there is his family
in a state of complete denial
maybe this is finally the year
where he completely writes them off
emotionally wounded bedsitter
constipated conversations
pulling the drapes shut
another shrouded evening
with the promise of storms
teasing the night air
