Life On Hold
Playing this waiting game
I don't want to seem eager
for another disappointment
just put life on hold
questioning what I'm told
won't be bought and sold
there are no streets paved with gold
My life seems meager, quite sparse
maybe just a farce
and this genetic makeup
has been nothing but a handicap
I know it's all a crap shoot
but I'm sick of always being
the only moving target
just for once I'd like to see
a period of time
minus the misery
no sympathy
or rainy days
over cast skies
or perpetual haze
no definitive mindsets
or hidden traps
but a face that can smile
and willingly laugh
