A Sponge Out of Water
I’m swallowing my pride
and taking back this life
from the same people
who wrestled it away
in the first place
With a smile on their face
treating Life like a race
like rats on treadmills
travelling absolutely nowhere
advising to the point of despising
illustrating their viewpoints
trying to apply it to your lives
But it’s pointless
to even attempt
so why bother?
I wasn't meant
to have perfect bleached white bones
a shark like smile
that only spews out sound bytes
or the latest overpriced cell phone
spitting radiation silently
while you place it to your head
like a gun going off,
pulling the trigger to connect
this connection is instantaneous
while your brain roasts
like some turkey in the oven
and the latest ad running on TV
shows dysfunctional people
celebrating the erosion
of communication
Ironic, since this exile is self imposed
but the colors are running
bleeding into pixelization
and I can't figure out
which end is up or down
or why I'm even here,
staring off into space
soaking up this information
like a sponge out of water
