Unbound
Taking the higher road
crucified every step of the way
while the rest just best the peons
all the way to the horizon line
Forgetting about the bonds
that has all become unbound
skating across cracking ponds
with personal reflections quite sound
Maybe losing another round
to unassuming ordinariness
but look long enough
one sees cracks in the veneer
Know-it-all faces sporting sneers
self righteous bigots
throwing fits
trying to intimidate with fear
Up in the trees
pulling off leaves
one after another
cascading down to the ground
Viewing the family plot
Patriarch buried in the dark
a turn of the century photograph
his only remaining mark
While cars travel by
on the other side
of a wrought iron fence
contributing to a yellowing sky
