    In Between

    Sometimes I wonder if I overreact?
    this skin too thin
    stretched so tightly
    angry world pounding my skull

    Then these moments pass
    the calm after the storm
    sit back and review
    whatever stoked the fire

    Feeling too much
    fathomless intensity
    watch me let go
    breathing beneath the waves

    Now I've shared too much
    thrown off another emotional crutch
    somehow still standing
    on some impatient world quite demanding

    There are no release valves
    or soothing, miracle salves
    either up or down
    cycling round and round

    Neither happy or sad
    stuck in between
    some intensive nightmare
    or another waking dream

    Sometimes I wonder if I'm out of touch?
    this attention span
    stretched like a rubber band
    the every day world missing too much
