The Way It Used To Be
The way it used to be,
how you'd seek me out
find me alone,
struggling with doubt
Kidnap me,
for long, alcoholic drives nowhere
told you it could never be,
but the truth of the matter is,
I loved you
Could never find these simple words to say
sense of doubt got in the way
now you have moved on,
I suppose I have, too
Keep reinventing life
dancing with this strife
that carves into this back,
like some dull edged knife
I have lived on mountains
seen the scenic views
I've walked through parks,
danced along the shoreline, too
Now I'm getting nowhere
life is a fickle bitch
wheels turning in some ditch
all that's left is prayer
But do you really care?
