In My Element
Everything I've ever written
has always been for you
Little snippets of a life flow
recorded as my disappointments grew
Always seem to be in my element
with a one track mind so bent
The only view point is a dismal one
Family traumas the main event
It only took a mournful death
for this unity to crumble just like that
Another drama or calamity
Sorry, that's just my immediate family
You bought into the sermons on love
then a sister screams I hate you
right into an astonished face
40 plus years, just raped and defaced
Made out to be some simpleton
yet always was there to lend a helping hand
Funny how they can never recall
anything like this at all?
Given the shirt off my back
on more than one occasion
So why kill me with verbal attacks
to make up for your life's frustrations?
So I keep on writing away
I'll get it right one of these days
Won’t even bother to look back in anger
Finding a way through this convoluted haze
