Fueling The Anxieties
Being 'un-friended'
is about as classy
as breaking up
a relationship
by means of a phone text
only a sentence long
A dear friend
betrayed by unspoken word
and flagrant deed
what about a lifetime
of us against the world?
Taking over the dance floors
so many years past
invading bedrooms
and baths
with blatant laughter
and irreverent wrath
Dealing with alcoholism
and depression
the deaths of loved ones
and strange obsessions
taking me to the edge
Don't hold back
no, don't pull back
I miss you
we parted back a ways
I lost you
rejected it all
I loved you
climbed over that wall
This world
is shallow
shattered
hollow
filled with objects
that used to matter
Somewhere,
in the back of this mind
you are still mine
self delusional
and quite mad
kind of sad
to be steadfast
and determined
gone to the trenches
or stuck on some fence
So lost
and dreaming again
it has to get better
since scraping bottom
drains life,
fueling the anxieties
of a neurotic society
so just crawl away then...
