Mood Swing # 2009
These feelings of melancholia
overtake me sometimes
starting from behind the eyes
downward to the floor
threatening to drag me under
without going undercover
out in broad daylight,
right before your unknowing eyes
Chalk it up to another mood swing,
not that it even means a thing
just something to do,
beat myself up, so black and blue
You never hear from me,
but I'm still here,
still here,
and a week feels like an eternity
when you arrive,
I just want to leave again,
happily going around the bend
living inside my head
reliving all those conversations,
better left unsaid...
These feelings, like dementia
creeping up on me
ever since I was young
always told I was high strung
or maybe it was the sugar,
religiously applied to my cereal?
There is fluoride in the water,
plus arsenic and lead,
trace elements and hospital waste,
tres gourmet, for those with taste
Chalk it up to another mood swing,
not that it ever means a thing
just something to do,
beat myself up, so black and blue
