I Walk Alone
I walk alone
yes, it's sad but true
I surely know better
yet I still go for it
First date in a decade
only to be labeled a whore
could have chastised
wearing only a slight smile
But it's never good enough for them
the ones who point and condemn
forever walking alone
who casts the first stone?
He takes me to the oil fields
in the middle of nowhere
what exactly are you anyway?
the scent of flesh intoxicating
As a couple of weeks pass
walking on broken glass
avoiding me like the plague
you've a has-been who was made
I walk alone
there are no epiphanies
no fanfares or trumpets
who casts the first stone?
