Faced with another dilemma
It’s her birthday
in two days time,
However, this utterance of 'I hate you'
still resonates in my mind

Not taking this higher road
or submitting to some reasoning
of doing what I'm told,
Yet never once politely asked
now feel this polarized wrath

While I swallow back
this urgency to verbally attack
but you never ask favors
just manipulate
all this scheming just unravels
and I feel the need to travel
to remove myself from this scene
before I stop everything and just scream

Why does she expects everyone
to try and get along
since she is always right
and the rest of the world is just wrong,
Well, that’s a planet on which I'll never belong

An apology never happened
now this memory is charred black
smoldering over the coals
too late to take these words back
a relationship torn apart
leaking sadness
with splintery holes,
a future uncertain
and a mind numbing cold
