A Situation
A worn paring knife rests
on a white plastic board
half consumed sweet bread
digesting in this stomach
while a miniscule legion
of inconsequential ants
carries off the most desired
delectable crumbs
into the walls
beneath the floors
to some subterranean world
away from prying eyes
'Double a' batteries
reside on a desk
leaning to the left
worn out screws
artificial wooden board
scratched from the stress
of pounding gravity
Malfunctioning radiator
first it is hot
then it won't stop
burning oil in steel coils
igniting the air
this closed space
hidden behind a locked door,
on fire
While upstairs they conspire,
making this man feel tired
nerves burn
tendons stretched taunt
tempers flare,
you just don't care...
