Unknown Soldier
Unknown Soldier
Red paints the
cold sky
tears pitter-patter onto
the hard stone
rain falls
the heavens
are mourning as well
the carved name fills
with water
and overflows
a polished stone
that won't be forgotten
the silence is broken
by sobs and half spoken words of
"Only the good die young."
the last moments
spent by friends
who would meet
the same fate
on a bloodied battlefield
with gun shells
littering the ground
screams echo in a
cemetery
as a widow falls
to her knees in now silent
mourning
how can she be lost,
if she has nowhere to go?
she will be with him forever
blood flows as cold metal
meets delicate porcelain skin
no more pain for that
widow, for she
is with him now
and forever.
