Angel Of Death
Angel Of Death
Death is only a breath away
Close your eyes and
Wish your mind away
There is no other way
To reach that divine
Place that some can
Only dream of reaching
Hold fast as the world spins
In all of the worst ways
Blow it away
Try and make it all worthwhile
Jump over that line
Run past those past lives
Dive off that cliff
Into the unknown abyss
I’ve dreamed of this feeling
To feel so free
Unheeded by this world
My eyes begin to flicker
Back and forth
Looking for something
To latch on, to leave
My mark
Run anywhere without
A destination in mind
My hand clenches closed
My life, so fragile held in
My un-opening hand
My fate intertwined with
My soul and mind
The frayed edges of
Sanity have begun
To burn
My eyes are restless
Behind my closed
Eyelids
The Angel of Death
Has come to do his job
My body, broken
Beat and scarred,
Blood soaking into the ground
Around me
My eyes open
A cold hand squeezes my
Hand I gasp for air
The face of death…
It’s right in front of me
I can’t look away as
His lips turn upwards
And leathery wings spread
From his back
My back tears
And blood runs
Anew
I’ve always wanted to fly.
