If You Only Knew
If you only knew....How close I've let myself get to you,
How disarming your companionship was,
I'd hope for a better day,
If I had an ounce of it left in me,
Surely, you've seen the worst of me,
So hard to see the heart of me,
When all the faulty walls remain,
If you only knew,
How much I've wanted to say to you,
Maybe then you'd understand.
I'd take the time to let it all out,
If you'd only give me a sign.
When you fall back down,
I'll pick you back up,
With a broken heart,
A jaded smile,
And thin trust,
If only you knew what was true,
Hidden beneath these blue eyes,
And false cheer,
I could only hope,
If my heart allows,
That my fear would dissipate,
Then you'd finally know.
