Islands in the Sun
Like an Island I'm floatingon this an endless sea
with all the demands of this life
crashing down on me
my head hangs like a palm tree
my hair sways in thee breeze
thining all the while
like all the Autumn leaves
my skin is as dry
as the golden sandy shore
where time has eroded
and carried away in storms
my bones are brittle
like so much drift wood
washed up on the shore
till they break and be no more
my heart is broke and battered
like the shells that litter the ground
but in their wreckage a single pearl be found
this is why I stay a float
for this single ray of hope
that like the sun that warms this place
would shine down and like heaven's grace
and keeps my soul alive and well
and proves his love will never fail
and when the sun sets down at night
I know I'll make it through alright
for on this Island drifting in the sea
I know he will stay and be with me
and you have come from the shore afar
like a wish come true on a falling star
my love its you where my heart belongs
and for your love I shall carry on
and in to the dimond sky will sail
where life is an endless tide
and be together on this Island
floating through eternity.
