Bring me that Horizon
on a golden sea shoreshe stands in somber silence
barefoot beneath the tanned sand
eyes shielded by her good hand.
and there she gazes out to sea
at the horizon as far as she can see
and prays ever softly that he will be there soon
a board a vessel set at full sail
he stands at the stern and looks as well
as the orange sun starts to set, and still he doesn't
see her yet
she walks back in saddened silence
the shadows growing long
back up the winding way to her quite
home
she sets a lantern in the watch tower
she'll stay perched there till he comes
and even though she's oh so tired
when she sees him. to his arms shell run
He sails his ship onward, he yells out " come on chaps"
I long to see those homing shores, and my beloved
bonnie Lass.
then suddenly there comes a knocking at her parlor door
she most have dozed off on the floor
but it must be him, who else, to come at such an hour
she opens up to find him there, and he bringing her a flower
together again at last, the sailor and his Bonnie lass
and ne'r again says he shall I sail away from thee.
