The Only Way
There is only one way
To know and love God
One that may be bumpy and indistinct at first
But it does smooth out
The more one trusts and travels it
And while it demands everything of us
And isn't all that popular or embraced
By those who prefer to go along with the crowd
It is the best and surest way to find happiness
And freedom from fear, anxiety, sin
And all the bad feelings we've ever suffered
It isn't the politically correct way
Nor does it lead to instant riches
Or worldly success
Though they were originally based
And founded upon its Precepts
Most religions don't really trust in
And teach it anymore
Why?
Because the Way is the only way
To get to heaven
And to believe and say such a thing in today's world
Is to invite the kind of dissatisfaction
That inspires unenlightened parishioners
To vote for politicians who are doing their best
To destroy the faith in Jesus Christ
Upon which the only Way is built and sustained
