Caterpillar Wisdom
I wondered what butterflies went through
When shedding their chrysalis skin
How much of themselves they'd relent to
If they knew which persona would win
Would their struggling be wildly determined?
As they watched other butterflies sail?
Or would fear preach a foreboding sermon
Sowing doubts that insist they will fail?
Would their instincts continue to bicker
Knowing soon they'd be able to fly?
Would they leave behind everything quicker
If their eyes remained fixed on the sky?
Would a butterfly look back with wonder
As it glided away at long last?
From a world that tears pure love asunder
In the pains of a butterfly's past?
