Mustard Seed
Faith is as faith does
And only God truly knows
What waits for faith
Beyond this world’s folly
Like railroad tracks-
Rounding a bend
Faith sends its assurances ahead
Without fear
Knowing full well
That whatever comes
Faith is already there and here
To burn a bridge behind
Or leap a valley
To work a miracle
While doubters dally
Faith cannot be stopped
Not by apathy or spite
Or any way the world hates
Faith can only win
Since all that faith knows is victory
The permanent kind
The kind that abounds in glory
And suffers long
Without losing sight of home
Without giving in
To a fool's intractability
Indeed
Faith is like a mustard seed:
Page one of a novel unwritten
Step one of journey contemplated
Day one of a ministry unknown
Unlike those who hate
Faith knows how to wait
And when the waterfall of God’s glory
Fills the gaps of time
With powers of the infinite kind
And the heart reaches still further
Into the wellspring of truth
Another lamp blazes mightily
From out of the vault of heaven
Thanks to the Lord’s mustard seed
