Gone South
Given the conditions under which I'd been living
There wasn't much left to do
But shut down for a while
To give justice a chance to teach its correcting lessons
To the reasons why my life had been taking too many turns
For the worst
Since my conscience was clear
As was the path taken to get here
I worried not about the cutting edge of God's Word
Knowing that no matter where I stood with it
My motives were certainly not against it
Like hibernators
Waiting for the winter to melt
The packed powder of indifference ‘round about me
Not only made it necessary to disconnect from it all
But impossible to do anything else
Until the flow of the Lord’s guiding wisdom
Made His next move perfectly clear
To my long-suffering expectations
And while I waited
The unfathomable peace of His Holy Spirit
Restrained my restless longing
For heaven
Angels invisibly massaged my neck and shoulders
Assuring … comforting
Healing the broken heart
I'd so painfully prayed well again
While witnessing the truth of God's unmistakable retribution
As He irreversibly tipped the scales of love’s justice
In my favor
So it went
And continues to go
In this end time Holy War of faith
Against all who would seek to challenge God’s mercy
Gone south
