Rhyme and Reason
I'm paying no attention
Lest words unblessed
Take up their restless rest
Upon this fragile gift of thought
I've let go of retention
For the time it takes
To end an onslaught of muck rakes
Passing overhead
To enlist the dead
Unto another war weary season
My mind rests on suspension
Bestead beside a quiet ocean
Of soothing-calmed emotion
Where tide pools gather daily bread
Onto the hallowed shores of rhyme and reason
I am on hold and free from harms long gone
From the suffocating belligerence
Ignored within this song
That another might share deliverance
Into the sanitizing arms of rhyme and reason
