Undone
Bright new morning, glorious dawn,
Gently awaken to birds bright song.
Eyes slide shut, a tear escapes,
One single tear, that's all it takes.
Sweet dreams return, my one desire,
Yet fade each morn in suns hot fire.
Bitter daylight robs anew,
The nightly joy of finding you.
What price to pay for a lesson taught?
What would I give? What would I not.
To reach the haven of your warm embrace,
And kiss the tears from your beloved face.
This empty shattered place inside,
Hollowed out by departed pride.
Sorrow filled longing as my morning meal,
For thinking that I did not feel.
The ache that lingers into each new day,
Sun's light can never take away,
The taste of ashes on my tongue,
Regret can never be undone.
Gently awaken to birds bright song.
Eyes slide shut, a tear escapes,
One single tear, that's all it takes.
Sweet dreams return, my one desire,
Yet fade each morn in suns hot fire.
Bitter daylight robs anew,
The nightly joy of finding you.
What price to pay for a lesson taught?
What would I give? What would I not.
To reach the haven of your warm embrace,
And kiss the tears from your beloved face.
This empty shattered place inside,
Hollowed out by departed pride.
Sorrow filled longing as my morning meal,
For thinking that I did not feel.
The ache that lingers into each new day,
Sun's light can never take away,
The taste of ashes on my tongue,
Regret can never be undone.
