sage
illusions dance before my eyes
truth's a prisoner in disguise
telling her dissembled lies
corrupted words I so despise
every worthy thing conceal
beneath the mask of your ideal
there's no jury, no appeal
I am not allowed to feel
viewed for what I have to offer
treasure rots in hidden coffer
desperate people try to cling
but never see my hidden wings
I love them, and that is no lie
but on no love can I rely
I've never let them enter in
on the surface let them skim
seek my wisdom and insight
not knowing of my unscaled heights
I can share all that I am
and never really give a damn
how empty to deny my rage
for living like some blinded sage
and never once to voice my cry
am I loved or do you lie
so take from me what you will
I'm deep enough, I can fulfill
whatever need you bring my way
and all your fears I will allay
then healed you may take your leave
I'm so glad you've been relieved
don't look deeper in my eyes
you might see through this thin disguise
I've a heart that hurts as well
all you've known a brittle shell
a fortress round a shattered heart
so guarded I cannot impart
or find a way to enter past
the doors and windows are shut fast
the pain presents upon my skin
alluding to the way within
a simple touch can bring the rain
of heartbroke tears held back in shame
the road I've traveled has been rough
so touch me now..I'm good enough
truth's a prisoner in disguise
telling her dissembled lies
corrupted words I so despise
every worthy thing conceal
beneath the mask of your ideal
there's no jury, no appeal
I am not allowed to feel
viewed for what I have to offer
